The experts and participating professors were selected from among researchers, representatives of the sponsoring communities, civil servants working in local and national administrations, as well as from relevant NGOs. Most of them came from countries that had already gained experience in preparing one or more ICH inventories.

Museums play an important role in safeguarding the intangible cultural heritage of members of communities, groups or individual practitioners of intangible cultural heritage, who wish to pass on their cultural practices to future generations.

How can intangible cultural heritage become an integral part of museum practices and policies in the future?
